Worship and Creative Arts
Jesus said that the Father is seeking worshippers who will worship Him “in spirit and truth” (John 4:23). We were created with a deep longing for something greater than ourselves, a sense that we were made for more than the mundane. We were created to worship.
Worship is not a passive event, but purposeful and from the heart. Worship is not just a ritual we perform; it is an encounter with the God who is passionately in love with us. Worship is more than our songs; it is a life lived in honour of our Creator.
Led by Phillip and Sarah Anderson, our worship and creative arts department seeks to develop ministries that provide opportunities for a wide variety of creative gifts to be used in worship.
Dance Team
The dance team seeks to answer the call to "praise His name with the dance" (Psalm 149:3). Using modern dance styles, this is a group of worshippers whose desire is to model extravagant physical expression in worship as they give their love to the Lord with all their strength. The bible gives numerous examples of dance in worship, prophetic dance and intercession through dance.
Worship Team
The worship team consists of musicians and singers whose desire is to use their gifts and abilities to honour and worship the Lord who gave them the gifts. The team's purpose is to serve God, the congregation, each other and the church leadership by providing an environment in which the church encounters God's presence and can freely express their worship to Him.
It is our desire to facilitate Christ-centred worship which includes...
meditation on the beauty and the awesome majesty of God
- 'behold…One sat on the throne' (Rev 4:2)
- 'let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the LORD our maker' (Ps 95:6)
- 'but one thing is needed' (Luke 10:42)
- 'one thing I have desired…to behold the beauty of the Lord' (Ps 27:4)
- 'David danced before the LORD with all his might' (2 Sam 6:14)
- 'Let them praise His name with the dance' (Psalm 149:3)
- 'be still and know that I am God' (Psalm 46:10)
- 'He leads me beside the still waters, He restores my soul' (Ps 23:2-3)
- 'when I cry out to You, then my enemies will turn back…' (Psalm 56:9)
- 'shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him…?' (Luke 18:7)
- 'the Spirit and the Bride say "Come!"' (Rev 22:17)
In 2 Samuel 24:24, King David said he would not offer anything to the Lord which cost him nothing. We do not aim to provide a place to hide in the crowd; our desire is to model and cultivate abandoned worship, that as a church we would give ourselves wholly to our God.
